Vol. 1 — Essentia

Essentia takes its name from the Latin notion of beingness: the very nature of what something is.

This first volume is an introduction to a way of seeing. A collection of portraits, landscapes and fragments from visual diaries, brought together by a shared essence.

I am drawn to what exists beneath the surface of things. To the quiet presence of a person, the character of a landscape, the fleeting relationship between light, time and memory. To those moments when something reveals itself without needing to announce its presence. My photographs are attempts to stay with these moments. To observe without imposing, to encounter without defining. To let time remain in the frame, allowing the silence around a subject to become as important as the subject itself.

Perhaps this is what photography means to me: not simply recording what is there, but approaching what something feels like to exist.

No words. Just photographs.
